989+ Years of Love on Display

Seventeen Pitman Manor couples have been married a total of 989 years. In a “public display of affection” they graciously shared their one-of-a-kind stories via a “Valentine’s Day Lovers’ Lane.” LifeChoices’ Committee volunteers planned and installed the exhibit, which showcases the couples and their romantic successes in a concise, insightful and often humorous manner.

“We have newly wedded couples, others who have known each other from childhood and some together since they were young adults. While their stories are different, they share a common thread, whether funny, romantic or unexpected—love,” said Patti Davidson, who with co-workers Carolyn Slickmeyer and Amy Rubino created the Lovers’ Lane.

“Regardless of our relationship status we could all learn from our lovebirds. With 989 years of marital bliss they must have learned a few secrets along the way,” concluded Davidson.

Doris and Bob Blom admire their feature in the “Lovers’ Lane” display. The two, who have known each other since childhood, have been married 63 years.
