Senior Prom
What vision does "senior prom" bring to you? Perhaps high school women looking elegant in fashionable gowns, sparkling clean young men donning tuxedos, parents and neighbors taking photos on the front lawn, waving goodbye as the limousine pulls away or the first dance? Forget all that and fast forward many decades!
The real “Senior” Prom took place on May 28 from 6 to 8 p.m. in Francis Asbury Manor’s main lounge. Themed "Old Hollywood," a different classic movie star picture propped up at each table helped to set the mood. Randi Ray, a fabulous DJ, played favorites to which all danced. A dance floor, ordered just for the occasion, allowed Francis Asbury’s seniors and staff to dip, bend, glide, shake and sashay throughout the evening.
Dining Services prepared a feast fit for royalty: filet mignon, shrimp scampi, fresh asparagus, garlic mashed potatoes with cheddar cheese, and for dessert, fresh berry cheesecake. Guests also snacked on petit-fours and chocolate covered strawberries.
While residents Roger Holloway and Violet Robinson were prince and princess, Bill Fugit and Caroline Wheeler became the crowned king and queen best dressed. Rich Johnston and wait staff Marie Crenshaw were voted best dressed employees. The Senior Prom, a LifeChoices activity, was planned and executed by three employees, Lauren Gill, Marie Crenshaw and Natisha Murphy.
See you next year seniors!
