March Book Club

Saturday, March 10, 2012 - 10:00 AM
Caroline Silva, 973-300-5788 ext.2109

The 'Postmistress', a novel by Sarah Blake, follows the interwoven tale of two women responsible for the ''news'' in 1940 in a world spiraling into violence and war. One is the postmistress of a small coastal town in Massachusetts; the other is a budding journalist sent to London and Europe to document the stories unfolding there. Both are charged with the potent responsibility of knowing truths and realities that will utterly change those who receive their stories and news.

The book is about how ordinary decisions of the heart shape destinies and how interwoven we all really are. It is about ordinary people and being swept up in historic tides that will forever change the course of a life, and how the seemingly random nature of life and death holds deeper patterns of connection and meaning.
